Tri praseta

Three Little Pigs

The children's opera "Three Little Pigs" was created based on a well-known fable that has long found its place in children's literature as one of the most beloved stories. Authors Marija and Branislav Cvijić promote a simple message: "Love your neighbor" or "Return evil with good."

This opera has two scenes. The first one introduces us to the main protagonists, the three pigs, each of whom has his own aria and stage movement that evokes his own character, his everyday life and his intentions. In addition to the three pigs, the play also features a wolf in the form of a narrator who communicates with the children, sings and recites the story. The wolf explains that he is very hungry and has not eaten anything for days. He tries to show that he would eat anything, but no one likes him or gives him food - so he has to eat piglets.

In the second image, a reversal occurs. Since he cannot blow away the last house, the wolf sadly sings an aria, after which the pigs take pity on him and take him into the house, where they feed him. The wolf promises one that their friendship will last forever.

The piece is intended for children aged 3 to 11, lasts about 40 minutes, and is performed by a four-member ensemble with piano accompaniment. The music was written by Marija Cvijić, and the libretto by Branislav Cvijić.
