The fables of the ancient Greek writer Aesop often provide images of the animal kingdom through which some lesson is offered. The lesson in this famous story is that diligence often overcomes a lazy attitude over natural talent.
The Association of Artists presented this fable in a comical and slightly different way. In addition to Brka the turtle, who in our play is an opera singer and speaks with an Italian accent, and Peka the rabbit, who is an athlete and works hard, Meda, Brka’s friend, appears, who constantly eats lunch and interrupts the tense discussion between the two rivals. Since the play premiered before the new year, Santa Claus also appears in the role of judge. His role will later be replaced by the fox Cica in the regular performance of the play. The play contains eight musical tracks that represent the musical background of the story. There are arias, duets and tercets. Of course, the dialogue is constantly present, through which children have the opportunity to choose their favorite character to identify with. The costumes are done imaginatively and the action of the story takes place in a forest decor that depicts happy colors.
The play is the author’s work of Marija and Branislav Cvijić and premiered on December 28, 2023. years.
